This is the final edit and final version of our title sequence, The Journey.

Thoughts

With regards to filming, I feel as if our schedule for filming should have been a bit more frequent instead of concentrating on other aspects of the coursework, such as blogging and our evaluation (towards the end of the coursework). I feel as if communication with most members of the group was good and we created a group chat to organise when we were going to film for both our title sequence and group videos for the evaluation. However, I feel as if the communication for the most part of the task was not suitable and we should have made more of an effort to arrange filming dates.

On Saturday 15th I filmed some extra footage at my house to add the extra and final pieces to our title sequence. I filmed a few pieces of footage to show the comparison and contrast of little Jack's career to older Jack's career. Firstly, I filmed a scene of Spurs shirt with boots and a trophy on top of it with my phone. This is to show it is home footage and how excited I am about having these accolades and items. This is in comparison to Kallum and Kaan filming one of Kallum's brother's shirt and boots to show the progression. Also, I filmed some of my trophies along with some Tottenham shirts for a scene we could add some titles in. I sent these clips to Kaan as he is the head editor and has the necessary tools at hand to edit.

On Thursday 13th, myself and Kaan got the train to White Hart Lane, home of Tottenham Hotspur, to get some footage around the ground and of a poster inside the Spurs shop. We did this because older Jack does sign for his boyhood club, Tottenham and we felt it would be a good idea to include some footage, and an over the shoulder shot, in the title sequence. We took a tripod and camera with us.

On Wednesday 12th, Kallum and Kaan filmed Kallum's younger brother watching football and filmed some of his accolades he has received. This is in order to  continue to show and emphasise the transition from younger Jack to older and grown up Jack. Furthermore, Kaan also started to create a newspaper article that will possibly feature in the title sequence, this was done using Microsoft Word and the headline will feature a heap of praise for Jack's recent performance for Tottenham.

In the week before we broke up for the Easter holidays, alongside the ongoing work for our title sequence myself, Kann, Kallum and Tolani started to prepare for our evaluations. In both lessons we used the green screen, a tripod and camera to record two videos for two out of seven questions as part of our evaluation. In addition, we also recorded an answer for one of the questions on soundcloud as part of using a variety of ways in documenting our evaluation.

Over the weekend, Kallum took home a camera and tripod to film his brother doing kick-ups and reacting to parts of a football match. This is to give a better idea of the narrative and to give some further background knowledge of younger Jack's story and upbringing. In addition to this, we will film myself doing kick ups as well to show the transition between younger Jack and older Jack.

On this day, Kaan took home a camera and tripod and decided to film a few of his football shirts and some trophies and take some shots of those. In addition, he also drew a picture of a football player in a scrapbook. this was in response to the feedback we received during the lesson and this was to make the narrative clearer by showing a bit of background on younger Jack.

On this day, myself, Kallum, Kaan and Tolani went to the changing room in dance to continue with our filming for the title sequence. Myself and Kallum went to the PE department to get some shirts from the school football team, this is because we needed to film the back of the shirts (the numbers). This was so we could show the transition between the younger Jack's shirt and the older Jack's shirt. We put the number ten under the light to show that that shirt was Jack's shirt. We hung the other shirts around the main shirt to make it look like a football changing room. After we had set the scene, we did an over the shoulder shot of myself looking at the shirt using the camera and tripod.

Today, as a collective we were incorporating pieces of footage we had gathered recently. we did this as a group because thus far we had not sat down together and analysed and evaluated the footage we had. we also used this opportunity to get to grips with final cut pro and this consisted of us using it on our own and trying new things as well as Kaan showing us and helping us on how to perform certain actions on Final Cut Pro. this is since Kaan had extensive knowledge of Final Cut Pro from the continuity sequence and in the early stages of the title sequence. actions we performed and learnt how to do were; adding transitions on to the clips and moving and changing the font in order to suit our needs. we also discussed as a group today what positioning of the titles we felt was best and in addition to this what colour we felt would be best for certain scenes.

On Friday the 17th I had to teach a year 8 PE class as part of my sports studies coursework and my group took advantage of this by bringing a tripod and camera to the astro turf and filmed the students during the lesson as we could use this in our title sequence having younger Jack in training. Also, the group filmed a student walking into the changing room acting as younger Jack and this will transition well with the scene of myself walking into the changing room. we will be looking to replicate the transition we added when we had close ups of myself and younger Jack dribbling at goals.                                                                                               

Finding the Soundtrack

Today,  as part of constructing our title sequence and starting to prepare and gear towards the first screening of our title sequence, myself and Kallum started to look for a suitable soundtrack for our title sequence, The Journey. Our aim was to find a touching and smooth song with the characteristic of a build up. This is because our title sequence is a comparison between younger jack and older Jack and we felt a build up in the title sequence would be very suitable and receive positive feedback. We firstly found The xx - Intro but however this soundtrack is copyrighted so unfortunately we could not use this soundtrack.

On Wednesday 15th myself and Kaan went to the drama studio and in the changing room to film a few scenes for our title sequence. Firstly, we went to film myself walking into the changing room with my boots on and then Kallum will go and film his brother (younger Jack) doing the same thing to show the transition of Jack through the ages. In addition, we filmed myself opening my bag and taking out my new stuff from Tottenham as a result of myself signing the contract.

Today, myself and Kallum sat in the mac room at school and went through some of the footage we had recorded at goals the day before. This footage included me dribbling towards goal and shooting at goal, with Kaan being the goalkeeper. It also included myself doing some kick ups and some more footage of Kallum's brother (younger Jack)  doing the same things as me so we could show the transition and time lapse. Myself and Kallum edited the footage by adding some titles, choosing the fonts and colours of the titles and adding cuts. This was very successful since Kaan, the main editor of the group, agreed with the majority of our choices and decided to leave them in for the first draft and screening of our title sequence to the rest of the class.

In preparation for our first screening, myself and Kallum sat in the mac room and was editing our title sequence to ensure our narrative, story and genre are clear to the audience. We had to delete some scenes and remove some titles in order to have the best possible title sequence and as well as that we added some titles and effects to our footage to show the time period of when it was set in.

On Wednesday 7th of March myself, Kallum and Kaan went to goals in Bexleyheath to film myself in the football scenes of our title sequence and we also filmed Kallum's little brother, who is plays younger Jack in our title sequence. In addition, on Wednesday myself and qualm also filmed the scene of Jack walking into the changing room and siting down with his boots on. We will also film Kallum's little brother (younger Jack) doing this as we will continue to show his progression as he grows up. As myself being in charge of props and costume, I brought the kit in for myself which included a Tottenham shirt, adidas shorts and adidas boots.

In addition, on the Friday myself and Kaan re filmed the scene that consisted of me signing the contract. We found a year 10 student who looks similar to Jack and would portray a young Jack well to sign a pretend contract whilst in class. This is to show he aspires to be a footballer and it will show the progression of him when we fade it into the scene of myself signing the contract.

Next week on Thursday, myself and Tolani found a location in school and filmed two scenes that we will include in our title sequence. We filmed myself signing the contract that will make Jack a Tottenham Hotspur player as well as filming Jack receiving his new equipment as a result of signing the contract. He received, shin pads, boots, shorts and a spurs shirt and it shows Jack presenting it and then it goes into a shot of the equipment he had received.

On Wednesday at school, Tolani, Kallum and Kaan went on the field to film students from the younger years playing football whilst I was writing up the pitch in which we will present to the class. After this, Tolani was looking on dafont.com to try and find the suitable font for our title, which is called 'The Journey'. We chose the font called Jersey 54. In addition, Kaan will start to edit and upload the animatic of our storyboard, which Tolani drew.

During the first week after half term, our group started to film some parts of the title sequence. On the Tuesday Kaan and Kallum rented out a camera and took it to Goals with them to film Kallum's little brother (who is playing younger Jack) to film him taking shots at goal. This is the first part of showing the transition of Jack and how he has progressed as a footballer. It also shows how he is better off financially because Jack will be wearing his Tottenham shirt (the team he got scouted for) whereas Kallum's brother is wearing his local football team's kit.
